The check is designed to help you spot questions before a file reaches Etsy, Gumroad, Printify, Printful, or another shop or print-on-demand service. It is not legal advice or legal clearance.
If the ZIP contains an unsupported file type, we stop and ask for a supported bundle.
The result depends on the files and license you send. If a term lives only on a marketplace page, receipt, image, PDF, seller message, or another document that is not included in the plain-text license, it is outside this check.
We check whether the ZIP is well formed and whether its contents can be handled safely. The preflight looks for:
For PNG files, we check that the file is really a PNG and not another file type using a .png name. We also check chunk boundaries and CRC values, required structure and chunk order, truncation, pixel limits, and whether the image can be decoded within safe bounds.
For a valid PNG, the check can read the filename, extension and declared format, byte size, SHA-256 hash, dimensions, color structure, transparency, and pixel count.
For SVG files, we check UTF-8 text and whether the file is really an SVG rather than another format using an .svg name. We use strict XML parsing and block scripts, event handlers, DOCTYPE declarations, foreignObject, external references, CSS imports, and other external-content indicators. SVG size limits also apply.
For a valid SVG, the check can read the filename, extension and declared format, byte size, SHA-256 hash, document structure, text nodes, and external-content indicators. It can also read the viewBox, width, and height when those values are present. Not every SVG contains dimensions.
We check that the license is plain text and reject NUL-byte content that may indicate a disguised or unsupported file.
We then look for terms that may affect commercial or print-on-demand use, including personal-use restrictions, unclear extended terms, limits, exclusions, and wording that may require you to ask the seller a follow-up question.
We do not create rights that the license does not grant. We also do not decide what a court, platform, marketplace, or rights owner would conclude.
We compare supported files with the plain-text license you send. When the license clearly names a file, category, or use as personal-only, excluded, restricted, or subject to separate terms, we can flag the relevant wording and any identifiable file match for review or removal. If the license does not identify which files a term covers, we flag the ambiguity rather than infer the match.
We look for brand-name patterns in text we can read from your files, including filenames, readable text inside SVG files, and text recognized in PNG images. A match is a prompt to review the file, not a trademark decision.
We do not search live trademark databases, compare related goods or services, decide likelihood of confusion, or confirm whether a name is legally available.
We look for exact byte-identical duplicates using SHA-256 hashes. For SVG files, we also look for duplicates with the same normalized SVG structure.
We do not run perceptual image-similarity checks. A visually similar PNG that is not byte-identical may not be flagged as a duplicate.
The ZIP, PNG, SVG, and plain-text checks above identify malformed, unsafe, unsupported, disguised, unreadable, or out-of-limit content that could prevent a reliable review or get in the way of listing or fulfillment.
BundleShield does not check JPG files at launch. The supported bundle types are SVG and PNG with a plain-text license.
Every supported file receives one of three verdicts.

Clear does not mean legally safe, non-infringing, approved by Etsy, or cleared for every use. It only means this check did not flag one of the issues within the scope above.
Something needs your judgment before listing, such as unclear license wording, a brand-name pattern match, or a duplicate.
The report tells you why the file was flagged and what to do next. That may mean checking the original marketplace terms, asking the seller for written clarification, editing the file, or running a separate search.
Leave the file out of the listing unless you can resolve the stated issue.
A Remove verdict is a conservative pre-listing action, not a legal finding. The report explains the reason and the step that could resolve it, if one is available.
BundleShield does not:
Send the license that applied when you purchased or downloaded the bundle. If possible, keep the receipt, source URL, download date, screenshots or PDF of the terms, and any seller clarification with your own records.
If the current marketplace page and the saved license disagree, do not guess. Ask the seller or marketplace which terms govern your purchase. BundleShield can flag unclear wording in the material you provide, but it cannot settle a contract dispute.

Run a new check when you buy a different bundle, receive a materially different license, or change the file set you plan to list. A report applies only to the files and license reviewed in that report.
